Preheat oven to 350F, and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
In a large microwave-safe bowl (or a small saucepan on the stove), heat the butter until just melted.
Whisk in the two sugars until thoroughly combined.
Let it cool for a minute, and then mix the egg and vanilla extract until combined and smooth.
Sprinkle in the baking soda, and salt in and mix.
Now add the flour and stir it in until fully combined and the dough is smooth.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop out the dough in tablespoon round balls on the the cookie sheets, about 2inches apart.
Sprinkle the top with course sea salt, and place trays in the oven for 9-10 minutes. Let them cool for 5 minutes before enjoying
